City Wins NEW EVENT OF THE YEAR for
2011 Roswell International Sci-Fi Film Festival
At the Tourism Association of New Mexico (TANM) Governor’s Conference on Tourism today, the City of Roswell was recognized for excellence in the NM tourism industry at the TANM Tourism Industry Recognition Awards (TIARA). These awards help bring greater awareness to the importance of the tourism industry to New Mexico’s economy, and are given to highlight excellence and creative accomplishment in travel marketing and promotion.
Roswell was recognized with a TIARA award for NEW EVENT OF THE YEAR for the 2011 Roswell International Sci-Fi Film Festival: Aliens in Cinema.
“We are overwhelmed with the success of last year’s event and the partnerships with ENMU-Roswell and Famous Monsters of Filmland. We could have never pulled off an event of its magnitude without securing the blue ribbon sponsorships for the event that housed and fed the many crews including Xcel Energy, IATSE, the Roswell Museum & Art Center, Eastern NM Medical Center, Roswell Hyundai, Pepper’s Grill & Bar, Hampton Inn, Red Brick Pizza, Portofino’s, Golden Corral, Planet Roswell, Martin’s Capitol Café and many others,” stated Reneé Roach, City of Roswell Marketing Director and 2011 RISF Festival Coordinator. “We encourage everyone to come to this year’s event which will include even more activities such as Roswell’s first Comic Convention, programming from top notch film industry leaders, vendor exhibition, Marvel Character, even more celebrity guests and a Mascarade Ball at the Spring River Park & Zoo, from June 22-24, 2012,” Roach continued.
This year’s event has been rebranded as “Roswell Comic Convention & Film Fest” and is being managed by Phil Kim, Publisher and Manager of Famous Monsters of Filmland.
